The Seven Stars Penryn raises over £1,500 for local food bank

A traditional pub in the heart of Penryn has been collecting proceeds from its event nights

for the past year to donate to the Penryn & Falmouth Food Bank.

The Seven Stars Penryn dates back to 1540 and provides classic pub food and drinks,

with brewery fresh cask ale on top from its very own on-site brewery. Its motto is that it

welcomes 'Onen Hag Oll', the Cornish motto for 'One and All'.

By collecting proceeds from events over the past year, the Seven Stars Penryn has raised a huge £1,570 to donate to Penryn & Falmouth Food Bank.

Marc Bosch, General Manager, said: “We know how valuable the food bank is for people and we wanted to do what we could to help our community. We couldn’t have raised this amount without our amazing staff and customers – thank you to each of you!”

With food banks 'bracing for the worst winter yet' (18 Oct 2023, Trussel Trust), the charity’s

soaring demand explains they are 'expecting to provide more than one million emergency

food parcels between December 2023 and February 2024 – the most parcels ever provided

across this period'. With the cost-of-living crisis, Penryn & Falmouth will benefit from this

added donation at this crucial time of year.

The Seven Stars Penryn has been collecting half the proceeds from every pub quiz night

(with the other half going to the winning team) as well as some proceeds from other events.

The team are immensely proud to have raised this amount.

A volunteer representative from Penryn & Falmouth Food Bank added: “We’re delighted to receive this donation from a small business in our community and we are amazed at the effort they have made. Demand is unfortunately very high at the moment. Any donations are desperately needed.”
