Springtime and the Dutch bulb fields go hand in hand, an excellent way of seeing Holland’s colours and scents via a river cruise with an excursion to Keukenhof. River cruising is an ideal way to get right into the heart of a country, and is also great for walkers and cyclists.
Talking of walking, you can stretch your legs on a section of the 1350 miles of Levada walks in Madeira. Springtime in Madeira is all about the flowers and is celebrated in their annual flower festival in April and May. May is also a perfect time for many of the Mediterranean Islands, our personal favourites would be Kefalonia or Zakynthos in Greece and Hvar in Croatia.
