FORM Falmouth: Popular festival welcomes flocks of artists

This September, FORM returns to Falmouth with a fantastic new line-up of artist exhibitions, workshops and creative activities for the community to get stuck into.

Ninety artists will be heading to Falmouth over the weekend of Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd September to showcase their work and connect with the community through the power of art and creativity.

Similar to the last two years, the main art show will take place in the Princess Pavilion, with extra stalls in a marquee down the side of the Pavilion garden, plus a number of activities set in other venues across town. There will be food to tantalise the taste buds and music to get feet tapping over the weekend programmed by local radio station Source FM.

One of the main events this year is the FEAST-funded community printing project, led by the team at John Howard Print Studios in Penryn, free to the public.

Taking place on Saturday 21st September, this workshop teaches drypoint printmaking to create an image that will be used to make a collaborative version of a John Dyer painting held at the Art Gallery - Gateway to Cornwall. The workshop will run throughout the day, so the public are welcome to drop in, although spaces may be limited at busy times.

The festival will also see the primary school art trail, showcasing the work of more than 200 children from the five Falmouth primary schools, created during day workshops led by professional artists.

Children’s drop-in workshops and a Plein Air drawing session, in conjunction with Terrace Gallery in Penryn at the Pavilion, and art related films, a ‘Drink and Draw’ session and the Members’ Exhibition at the Poly, will also be some of the highlights of the weekend.
