Falmouth's Pink Wig Night is a success

The team behind Pink Wig events have been left feeling ‘blown away’ by the outstanding success of this year’s Falmouth Pink Wig Night, which is now the largest ladies only night in the area plus is the first night of Falmouth Week’s shoreside entertainment.

In fact, 2023 has been the team’s best fundraising year since the events started in 2010, having raised a staggering £38,202.82. After deducting the hire of the marquee and keeping some money back to kick start next year’s event, Pink Wig are looking to donate a considerable sum between their chosen breast care charities. This takes the total raised to £185,700.

This year’s theme was a Pyjama Party, and the 2023 design t-shirts had the slogan, ‘Before you nap, check your baps!'

Emma Kent, chairperson, said: “We were thrilled to once again start the pre-parade party at The Greenbank, the staff at the Greenbank have been a great support to our event, donating a generous 50% of drinks sold throughout the afternoon/evening. The party night is a celebration of ladies supporting each other, having fun and most importantly raising money for our breast cancer charities, locally and nationally. The more that local business’s support us, the more money we raise, benefitting our charities.”

The parade, which saw approximately 1,500 pink wig wearing ladies, commenced from The Greenbank, led by the infamous Falmouth Marine Band, Bettys Stogs and Pink Wigs very own Mable Moobs, parading down and around The Moor then through the town to Waterfront car park. The team are extremely grateful to DJ Nate Valentino, The Strutts, Embrace Dance Fitness, Tim Vigus of South West Bars, Richard Gates and the Falmouth Town team, Devon & Cornwall 4 x 4 Response, Falmouth Marine Band, Betty Stogs and all the sponsors and volunteers who continue to support the event year on year.

As their founder Sally Hicks-Wood said: “Until we are all safe."
