Falmouth Christmas Tree Festival returns to the Princess Pavilion this December

The much loved Falmouth Christmas Tree Festival returns to Princess Pavilion in December, generously sponsored by A&P Falmouth.

This vibrant festive celebration includes 28 trees, grown locally by Watts and Co, each decorated by different community groups from in and around Falmouth with the theme of ‘Peace and Joy!’

The beautiful ‘Tree of Wishes’ will be displayed in the foyer area for people to write memories of their loved ones or to make a wish for the future. All donations this year will go to the charity Children’s Sailing Trust, who are based at Trevassack Lake, Garras, to create accessible and affordable watersports and sailing opportunities for young people in Cornwall through their schools or home education groups, helping them grow in confidence, competence and resilience – personal skills that last a lifetime and have a positive impact on both their physical and mental health!

The festival began on Sunday, 3rd December with the grand switch-on event starting at 5.30pm. Welcomed to the event by the ringing of the Perran Rebells’ handbells, visitors were treated to singing by St Mary’s RC Primary School Choir on the bandstand, followed by the light switch on by A&P apprentices, accompanied by the Mayor of Falmouth, at 6pm. The entertainment continued in the Garden Room with carols by St Stythians Brass Band, and the bar was busy, serving drinks, mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled cider to the crowds.

There was also a ticketed charity fundraiser in the theatre from 7.30pm with ‘A Night of Music’, supporting Little Harbour, Children’s Hospice South West featuring Pendennis Brass Band and Hit and Miss, a Cornish acapella quartet, compared by Fred Thomas aka Betty Stoggs, ITV Westcountry Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year 2023.

The Christmas Tree Festival can be enjoyed during Princess Pavilion’s opening hours and runs until Tuesday, 2nd January 2024.
