Falmouth celebrates the King's Coronation

Flags and bunting were strewn across the town, neighbours came together with their best dishes for community street parties, and good times were had by all as King Charles III took to the throne for his Coronation on Saturday, 6th May.

As it has done for generations, the Coronation was held at the magnificent Westminster Abbey in London, but the celebrations continued across the country and beyond to mark this momentous occasion.

Celebrations have taken place across Cornwall to mark the special day, with an extra bank holiday taking place on Monday, 8th May giving some more time to make memories with friends, family and neighbours.

In Falmouth, there was plenty to see and do over the long Coronation weekend.

Would it be a Coronation without a street party? Three official street parties took place in Falmouth - St Anthony Way, Coventry Road in Flushing and Lansdowne Road - encouraging the community to come together, bring a plate and share in the celebrations with neighbours, friends and family. The Seven Stars also hosted a Coronation Big Lunch on the Sunday, complete with a mini beer festival and a royal cake competition.

People were able to enjoy live music and entertainment across the weekend of celebrations, plus events for all the family, from a Coronation Flotilla at the Exchequer Quay in Penryn, to special church services and a Coronation Celebration held at the Princess Pavilion.
